Why I Became an Attorney

I figure today is as good a time as any to talk about why I became an attorney, if you even knew I was one. That’s one of the things that makes this blog so much fun for me. I get to help you all know more about your attorneys, how to find good ones, and learn the ins and outs of hiring specific kinds of attorneys (and though it seems like I’ve been talking about hiring a trucking accident attorney lately, that will change soon, I promise).

But, alas, I am not a truck accident attorney at all. In fact, I am a criminal defense and DUI defense attorney (though not a criminal tax attorney). That means I spend most of my time helping people get out of the trouble they have found themselves in, sometimes through their own fault, and sometimes through no fault of their own.  And that is, at the core, why I am a DUI attorney. To have the opportunity to really help people every day.

I didn’t just start out as a DUI attorney though, and in fact, I did work as a trucking accident lawyer for a short bit. I started out, honestly, wanting to make a bunch of money and go fight with people. Like you, I’d seen all the lawyer shows and wanted to be just like my favorite characters on them (Boston Legal, The Practice, even Murphy Brown). But, when I got into law school and then in the real world I saw that with those jobs come a lot of other different problems, problems I didn’t want.

So, I opened my own criminal defense practice and started helping people out. The great thing about it is that I do get to make a lot of money and I do get to fight with people (cops no less!) while also helping people get out of sticky situations. And that’s the key – there is no better feeling than helping someone when they thought they couldn’t be helped.

So, even though I’ve been writing a lot on here about trucking accident attorneys and trucking accident lawyers, I’m not one. If you called me with a case like that I’d send you to some place else (just like if you called and asked me where to find the best motorcycle accident attorneys). But I still like to write about them, and I think finding an attorney you can trust is one of the hardest things out there.

Now you know a little bit about me.
