Salt Lake City DUI Lawyer | Sticking to the Marketing Plan

When I first started out with my Salt Lake City DUI law firm I was so excited for the clients to start rolling in. I thought, for some reason, that as soon as I opened my doors the people would just start streaming in. As you might expect, I was sadly mistaken.

After a few days of no one just magically showing up at my office I thought, “how can I get some clients?” And from that point on the marketing plan was born.

From the advent of the marketing plan, again, I thought to myself that the clients would just start rushing the doors, waiting in line to sign up with me. That was actually not the case. Turns out that people looking for a Salt Lake City DUI attorney have more options than just me – and they were exercising those options.

It turns out that it takes not only hard work, but a little bit of time, for law firm marketing efforts to work. And if you think about it, this makes perfect sense. Once you start getting your message out there it’s going to take some time not only for the message to reach your intended audience but for it to sink in so they’ll actually call you when you need help.

For me, it took me at least a month before I started getting any hits from my DUI lawyer marketing plan. And even then it was just a couple of calls a week. But I learned an important lesson from that first effort – you have to give it a chance to see if it works.

Now that I’ve been around a few years I get a special sense of enjoyment from helping other new attorneys get started, even those that are competing with me. I simply tell them, “if you want to be a successful Salt Lake City DUI lawyer you are going to have to put a lot of work in and wait for the results to pay off, sometimes for months.” That’s just a fact of life.

So, don’t be discouraged. Put together your plan, execute it, and then have some measuring device in place to see if it works. In no time you’ll be as busy as you could ever want to be.
