My Story About the Railroad Accident Attorney

I hope this is an interesting story to you about my experience with a railroad accident attorney. It isn’t necessarily the most exciting story ever, but I think it makes a great point – if you are involved in a railroad accident you can’t just pick up any old lawyer off the street. You need to get in touch with an experienced railroad accident lawyer and let them do their thing.

The story starts out rather innocently. I was working at a small firm in Kansas doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that. It was insurance defense firm so we did all kinds of stuff from medical malpractice to construction defects, and even trucking accidents (though I would not consider myself a truck accident attorney). I was learning the art of defending personal injury lawsuits, and was learning a lot.

And then this opportunity came up to go to a legal education seminar put on by a railroad accident attorney about railroad accident law. I didn’t know if we’d ever do anything like that, but thought it might be interesting to go and learn from one of the better railroad accident attorneys in the state. And boy was it eyeopening.

First of all, railroad accident attorneys, even though they deal with catastrophic events like truck accident lawyers, are on an entirely different level. Nearly all of their awards are computed in millions of dollars and not thousands of dollars, and they are playing high stakes all the time. Think about what happens when a railcar jumps the tracks. It is not pretty.

Second, it’s a tough industry to get into because of all the regulations. Remember a couple of posts ago when I talked about the difference between being a federal criminal defense lawyer and a state criminal defense lawyer? Same thing here. This is a specialty, hands down. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll get run right over (no pun intended).

So that’s it, my railroad accident attorneys story. I told you it wasn’t exciting, but it was eyeopening. The moral of the story is this – if you need a railroad accident attorney, get one. Don’t settle for someone who doesn’t practice in that area.
