How to Become the Best DUI Lawyer Out There

I don’t know about you, but I want to be the best at whatever I do. That’s just how I’m made up. I hate losing, and that means I’ve got this weird drive to be the best at whatever I do, including my occupation as a Salt Lake City DUI lawyer. Here’s the thing, though. There is a lot of other stuff going on that needs to be taken care of in addition to lawyering. There are administrative tasks, marketing tasks, potential client meetings, the list of distractions goes on and on.

For me, becoming the best DUI lawyer out there means getting rid of as many of those distractions as I can. I’ve been reading this book called “The Rational Optimist” and right now in the book they are talking about how humans were able to rise above the standard of living of all other animals – and it has to do with division of labor, of specialization. That same concept is the key to success for your trek to become a great DUI lawyer.

The basic idea is this – because there are so many of us around, we have the opportunity to use the effort of the collective to benefit the individual. That means someone (actually many someones) become great Salt Lake City DUI attorneys and others become great accountants, great marketers, great managers, great CEOs. Realizing this power of people and taking advantage of it are the key to becoming the best at what you want to do.

In knocking out all of the distractions that come along with being a Salt Lake City DUI attorney, and, in my case, with becoming the owner of a law firm, I’ve been able to focus on becoming a great attorney. I’ve got someone to help me with everything, so I can bundle my time managing all of those other things and then focus on becoming a great lawyer, which takes hours and hours of work and years and years of experience.

Once you’ve eliminate those distractions then you need to come up with a system whereby you can spend some time every day in just honing your skills and knowledge. Most of the day to day of a Salt Lake City DUI lawyer, for example, is just going from court to court and dealing with the things that are at top of mind – there’s typically very little time to actually work on the craft of being a lawyer. That’s why you have to carve it out of your day.

Bottom line, if you want to be the best, you need to cut out the needless distractions and focus on your craft, and you need to carve out time every day to get better. Good luck!
